It's only Thursday but my second week at MICROMACRO has already ended. I almost forgot to blog with all the stuff we have going on in terms of assignments. As an intern it will amaze you the trust they put in you to do these kind of assignments. This is stuff they are actually going to use! Scary isn't it? They are all so nice at the POS People you feel like you have to go hard or go home. I'm officially taking that as Team Alpha's mantra!
For me I just always try to put my best foot forward ( whether it's my right foot or left) and to stay legit. It's easy when doing a task with others to feel burned out because you're devoting yourself physically and mentally to the things you are set to do. Work can be exhausting, exasperating but at the internship with Jenai and Takara, they're like your coaches, your trainers. Not the type that yell at you to get things done but the kind that inspire you to feel pumped and give it your best go.
We had a flyer to do and I've realised that deep within me there's some stroke of creative genius. Now I'm not patting myself on the back.... I'm bumping fists with myself! Why?! Because they chose Team Alpha's flyer! And I came up with the concept and did the flyer. Yes ... me! Who knew?
Something vital I learned in the process though that I think useful to pass on  is to find out who you are working with and come to some oral and explicit agreement as to how you are going to work together. And do the mature thing, stick to it and work out your differences. I've realised that I'm a self starter and while at times it may paint the picture that I'm a lone wolf what it really means ( and I googled it. lol) is that I'm the kind of person who is strongly motivated and shows initiative especially at work. I just like to get things done. Given that definition I think that's a good thing especially in a team. Normally you find a lack of commitment and proper work ethic and in my team of two( since we lost a member) that could work to our benefit.
By the end of this second week and the commencement of the third, I have learnt that in the workplace you have to know yourself and what you're about and you have to understand the same things about the people you work with. Reality for each person occurs through their own eyes. The way you see something, someone else will see it differently. To get over that barrier, communicate. It's what our mouths, words and all that stuff is for. Communication!
In our next assignment hopefully Team Alpha can bring a superior concept that should we win this challenge or not, it's something we can be proud of and look back on in smiles.
