This week was fun. This week was full of surprises. This week was an eye opener.
Let me start with the this week was fun part. I mean wow, all the giggling and laughter and cackles.
Our assignment was to create a video about the charity SEED. This started with us having to read a fairly long document, our first realization is that quite simply.. words are boring when presenting something so we decided to make a movie, not a presentation. We decided to take out quotes and important points as the only words and make a video that reaches out to the people. I tested this on a few friends and was surprised as to the talent i found in my young friends. There is a bunch of talent in the youth and the older folks need to appreciate that.
The making of the video was great and exciting though stressful with the one week time limit. Team work was surely needed but then things went wrong where the movie maker wouldn't work on Roshanna's computer meaning i had to do all the adjustments and edits so basically chats and communication pulled us together and saved us. We made the office our studios with Studio one - the waiting area next to the plant (I love that plant) studio 2 outside bright and sunny and studio 3 - Mr. Watson's office with his very awesome chair. We wanted everyone in the video but reading a script or being in a video isnt for everyone so we realised the people in our group have their strengths and weaknesses. Gillian again kept us in check, Roshanna likes the movie side of things and seeing things from the sources point of view and I happen to be a good writer and reader and also fairly okay in front of cameras and recording.
I outsourced for this assignment. This is where the surprise part came in. The music came from Jason Allyene. The editing from Jamarri Gaskin and i presented it to my friends who gave me tips. Thanks to all of them.
The eye opener part was a combination of things. One was the awe at the amount of talent posessed by the younger generation and also at how differently people think. I know that Jenai and Takara wanted it to be open to interpretation but the two teams both did amazing jobs and thought on two completely different levels. One was clean precise and corporate also well thought. The other was young and i dont know how to describe it. but in the end WE WON!! yayy!!! All that hard work won us bragging rights!!!
All in all it was a good week and I can't wait to see what the other weeks hold.
