Great Attitude? Got it? Get It.
Grammy’s was last weekend and then what many thought as a hoax when Whitney Houston was announced dead was true and suddenly the Grammy’s turned into a tribute to the legend. I’m rambling because when I think of death I immediately think of life, then the usual life is too short, live more, always forgive and forget and other variations and snippets of what you should do before you accumulate regrets. This tells me that I should always celebrate life and I was celebrating life at the POS People this week. This week flew… felt like I took a private jet and fast forwarded to the end of the days.

The focus was on Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access, admittedly all I knew about Microsoft Access was that it was a headache. Microsoft Powerpoint was for quick presentations at school and was much easier. I was of the mind that when using Powerpoint you maximise every slide by fitting about six points and try to minimize the number of slides but alas I was dead wrong. Don’t ask me because I do not know where I got those preconceptions from but thankfully I was corrected and schooled in the art of creating an effective power point presentation.

Remember to have a minimum of three points and maximum of four. Make the presentation pretty by using the appropriate template. For instance I used fireworks template when introducing KlipXtreme products, crayons for marketing strategy to be a little playful plus it reminded me when I was a child watching tsunami flinstones when I had a million colour books that were never coloured out so to speak and when all possibilities are possible and filled with vibrancy. I used the capsule template to transition from playful into serious matters when presenting the financial plan. This changed the tone of the presentation, had a professional look and was effective in communicating my meaning of “let’s get down to business”. There are two other features that will make your presentation successful: slide transition and music. Slide transitions can fade, clockwise, spin anything really and make sure the music chosen enhances your presentation and not just creates noise and distractions.

Next was Microsoft Access which is currently a database manager that is a little difficult in my opinion because although I have come in contact with the program I have never gone in depth and use it to its full potential. There is the design view and database view, import and export. You create a primary key to form a relationship between tables from there queries, reports, adding data that was imported and fun note Microsoft excel is a number component of Microsoft access. Access will take some work but the main benefit will be to update databases. Databases need to be constantly updated in order to deliver timely information and service to clients.

Speaking of scheduling I scheduled another SEED meeting on Wednesday to be presented than none other than Ms. Jenai Mapp-Watson. Yay … Yeah!! I’m hoping I will have a calendar full with SEED presentations in order to go full steam ahead while helping businesses advertise and helping the youth organisations. It is important that businesses see the link and benefits of supporting youth, after all youth are the tomorrows. Ms. Alleyne, Ms.Mapp-Watson and Ms. White really made the day entertaining thus I knew a smile was in my voice when I called prospective clients which is the first thing people hear and the short pitch I deliver and that smile helped me to schedule presentations. It’s all about attitude because attitude is indeed a small thing that makes a big difference.
