During the course of this week, I had the privilege of sitting down with Dr. Daisley and discussing ways in which young people now entering the world of work and being an entrepreneur, are be able achieve what they never thought possible. I learnt that business is not an entity its a living organism. For some people the way they see business is that they go to work do what has to be done and call it a day. However it is much more to it than this. As we all know its hard for young people now entering the world of work to obtain a job even if they are qualified. There is this ONE requirement that just eliminates young people when applying for a job and that is EXPERIENCE. My question is how can young people obtain experience if businesses are mainly looking for persons with experience.
Expanding a business presents a problem today as society has put the strain on the young people of being close minded meaning they lack the ability to think outside of the box. Having the ability to sell your skillset and manipulate people to be in business with you allows for you to form relationships. These relationships are much more important than the products and services that you sell. This is because it will most likely be the situation where you are not the only one selling those products and services and you do not have a reputation to your name like other larger organisations. As young people we should not limit ourselves to one thing, just start small and expand. Another important point is having a business that works without you. In the event that you get sick or have to step out the business can still thrive.
Most important lesson learnt is that as a person you should never sell yourself short, once you can dream you have to potential to obtain what you seek with the correct frame of mind and persistence.
